Due to his thoughts of unity, all of his hairs have combined into one giant follicle.

I was going to ask if the artist did his own colorizing of the strip but the
color of the hair is consistent with other strips. So I think Lihtox has it
pretty much right. All of his hair joined together into one bit hair. Though
wouldn’t that make it a horn?

His unique hairstyle makes him a separate individual, which comes into conflict with his thoughts about unity with all mankind. I think the weirdness of this particular hairstyle distracts from what he;s saying…Piraro might’ve done better to make it more generically weird.

I agree with the first commenter. It’s not supposed to be a “weird hairstyle”, it’s one huge hair. Rather than all “separate individuals” they are “all one”.

NTR is right. Too many people are fighting for the “Unity of man” while doing everything they can to preserve their own uniqueness. It’s ok to celebrate individuality, and it’s ok to strive for unity for all mankind, but it’s awkward to do both at the same time.
The “single follicle” is just an unfortunate rendering of a strange hairstyle. Seems to me that mess would need a LOT of product to stay up like that.

I can see both explanations, although NTR’s is the one I thought of first. Maybe it’s both?

I dunno, the problem with the unique hair interfering with his ideas about unity is that he specifically says these ideas about unity only “got about as far as my hair.” So the hair is a result of his ideas and now he’s at the hair salon trying to get it fixed.

The first time I saw this, I thought it was a weird hairstyle, too, and that it didn’t make much sense. On second viewing, I agree that it’s supposed to be a single giant hair.

I don’t understand the comic either, but it does make me wonder: If we’re all one, do I have to get everybody’s permission before I cut my hair? Bummer.

His hair is as poorly thought out as his attempt at erudite thought.

I’m with Lihtox, it’s one big hair. That would also fit with the hairdresser’s dismay.

NTR, this is “Pardon My Planet” by Vic Lee, not Bizarro by Piraro.
