The thing around her neck is a necklace. The bra is the other piece of clothing, located approximately where a giraffe’s mammaries are.

No, I think those are … bottoms down there, and a top way up on the neck. I’ve never seen a necklace shaped quite like that. Dangit, Zach, now you’ve got us discussing giraffe anatomy and dress!

Agreed, Powers, but it’s around her neck, and nowhere near where a giraffe breasts would be.
(Our local zoo has a very young giraffe, and on a recent visit it was very obvious that its mother was lactating. I found it somewhat disturbing that I was noticing how similar the shape of giraffe breasts were to humans’)

I’d say it’s a bra on the giraffe. I wouldn’t put too much thought into the anatomical reality of a giraffe wearing a bathing suit–the makeup, earring, and the fact that it’s wearing a bathing suit at all shows that it’s been anthropomorphised. Since human women wear their bras just below their heads, so does this giraffe.

Or maybe she’s a pantomime giraffe. And the bra is approximately correctly placed for the human standing in the front legs. Then it would have to be a bit short for a giraffe, but that still works — we don’t have any comparison references.

Nothing to do with this comic, but I was at a zoo recently, and the elephant happened to be showing off his equipment when we found him. This led to my five-year-old twins singing a freshly-made-up song about penises for five minutes.
