Presumably this relates to the Twittering protesters Iran, but I don’t follow exactly what Ohman is getting at.

I think you peeled the one and only layer off this onion, Bill.
[Yakov Smirnoff accent] In Iran, network socials you!

As with the chicken/taste strip, I think your expectations are a bit too sophisticated for these comics, Bill. I think it’s a joke about how Twitter is called a “social networking” website, a man attacking another man can also be called “social networking.”

I’m not sure I get the connection. Being accustomed to blatant puns, I’d expected to see a net used somewhere, such as the protestor being trapped in a net by the large man or something. I’m now focussed on the caveman-club the large man is beating the protestor with - it’s probably just used because it’s a better symbol of thuggish oppression than, say a police baton which would probably be more likely to be used to beat Iranian protestors, but I’ve been looking for a pun in there as in big knobbly bludgeoning weapon=>club=>association of like-minded people=>social network. A stretch, I know.

Hey, it’s just people getting together, right? Web… club… it’s all about getting close to each other.
That’s all I got.
