An acapella group called Da Vinci’s Notebook did a song called ‘Title of the Song’ which was a riff on the formulaic nature of boy band songs. This totally reminded me of it.

    No video, but cute song

I would have thought you’d prefer the A-HA “Take on Me” Literal video, seeing as it is comics-related.

“It started out as Hogwarts/Now it’s Lord of the Flies (I hated that book)”

Genius. I honestly don’t know which is better, this one, or Literal “Take On Me”.

Is it just my computer or is the formatting totally FUBAR?

Bob — if you are talking about this page, it all depends on the browser, though it seems that each of them have their own problems with it.

    I lol’ed. On the floor. Now I need a mop. (sort of…)

I suppose most people has seen the version by Hurra Torpedo,
but if you haven’t, it’s worth a look:

My favorite is still the literal version of “Head Over Heals”.

Bob: did you just upgrade to the latest IE? I did a few days ago, and the numbering here had every post listed as number 1 (or sometimes 0). I simply clicked on the “compatability view” button at the top of the browser, and everything’s back to normal now.

This is the most meta literal song version ever:

I can’t watch YouTube videos at work, so I can’t be sure of what this one shows, but from the comments it sounds a bit self-referential like the theme song for Garry Shandlings “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” which ran on Showtime (1986-1990) and the Fox network (1988-1990). (I remember it from Fox.)

Theme by Joey Carbone, Garry Shandling, and Alan Zweibel -

This is the theme to Garry’s Show,
    The theme to Garry’s show.
Garry called me up and asked if I would write his theme song.
    I’m almost halfway finished.
How do you like it so far?
How do you like the theme to Garry’s Show?

This is the theme to Garry’s Show,
The opening theme to Garry’s show.
This is the music that you hear as you watch the credits.
We’re almost to the part of where I start to whistle.
    Then we’ll watch “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show”.

This was the theme to Garry Shandling’s show.
