Somebody else submitted this as a CIDU, then withdrew it a few minutes later after the lightbulb went off. I was sort of leaning toward LOL myself… -Bill

Elyrest: This is a major Ewww. Maybe if they just showed the cat and Grimm, but Mother Goose too?

Ha! It wasn’t until I saw the blown up version here that I noticed the lifeguard speaking is also stained with dye.

That Rubes panel was a definite LOL for me, with only a mild “eww.”

Good role reversal on the Mother Goose.

    LOL @ MG & G, call it a guilty pleasure…

I’m not sure I get the one about the dye. Is it a dye that turns green on contact with urine or something?

  5. Keera May 16th 2009 at 03:16 pm 5

The top two are LOLs, while I have the same question as Paul re the dye.

  6. Elyrest May 16th 2009 at 04:00 pm 6

Yes, the dye turns green on contact with urine. The idea was that putting in the pool would stop little kids from peeing in the pool. Here you have all the older folks plus the lifeguard as being just as guilty.

The pee dye is just an urban legend, or so I’ve read. It was either on Snopes or The Straight Dope, I forget which.

Okay, I’m sure I’ll feel stupid once someone explains it, but I still don’t get the first one.

If the lifeguard knew about the dye, shouldn’t he have been a bit more careful?

  10. Rainey May 16th 2009 at 09:56 pm 10

@ Bill Zilch: The man in the first strip has a pet snake that he uses to scare people into losing control of their body functions. Then he sells tem clean underwear to replace the pair these people soiled by being scared.

anaceofkidneys - there is no such thing as an urban legend in the Cartoon Universe.

Mother Goose _has_ to drink out of the toilet for the ‘joke’ to work. She joins the pets because they have the cleaner drinking area.

The first one reminds me of the story of the guy who sold toothbrushes by offering free chips and dip to his potential customers.
