Super Synchronicity

These two were side-by-side on my Houston Chronicle comics page Thursday. The Speed Bump

is a CIDU, while the Argyle Sweater

is a LOL.

And if that wasn’t enough spandex for one day…

Has anybody actually heard the Captain America cartoon theme since 1968 or so? The Spider-Man theme has found a permanent place in the popular consciousness, but I don’t believe anybody under the age of 45 will be familiar with Cap’s. Normally this would get the Look Geezers! Comics! tag, but Marvel Comics is promoting the hell out of Captain America’s 70th anniversary this week, so I’m inclined to grant it special dispensation as a tribute strip.

which was sent to me Tuesday afternoon, I’m assuming is simply “Arlo couldn’t care less if he ever saw a cell phone again.” At least that’s the way I see it, because the only time my wife willingly carries hers is when she’s going to be driving her 13-year-old Mazda through a snowstorm… but I’m open to other explanations.

Probably this is something you’re only going to notice if you’re Jewish, but…

Marshmallow twists are a staple of Passover snack food (I prefer them frozen, personally); and in addition to regular marshmallow, they’re also made with cherry-flavored marshmallow. And by the second day of Passover, every supermarket that carries Passover food has a full shelf of cherry-flavored marshmallow twists just sitting there. By the end of the week, everything else is gone, the cherry-flavored marshmallow twists are marked down 90% and still not moving.

I’m astounded by the fact that the same supermarkets, every single year, never figure out that nobody likes cherry-flavored marshmallow twists.
