My wife works at a law firm and has had to deal with another firm called Weiner & Cox. Seriously, she got me a business card from them because I thought it was so hilarious.

Best part is, if you call and refer to it as wine-er and cox, the receptionist may correct you and let you know it is ween-er & cox.

One interpretation doesn't negate the other, Bob, and the "cold" in "knocked out cold" itself alludes to death.

Death and resurrection? I took it she was knocked out cold and dreaming a highly symbolic dream embodying, among other things, her struggle to survive the konk on the head.

Obviously, none of you know many lawyers or law firms! My dear brother, partner at a firm (which shall, for obvious reasons, remain nameless) says these are actually archetypes for classic lawyer courtroom/boardroom behaviors. The only one missing is the shark, but then that didn't fit the OZ joke, did it? Dorothy is the receptionist who Knows Where Everything Is, OH MY!(And, if you believe any of this, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, going cheap...)

I'm thinking more resurrection, Nicole. Re-incarnation involves returning in a new body, a new incarnation, an apparently new life. Dorothy returns in her body, her old life.

Hmm then is the Wizard of Oz is an alegory for reincarnation? She dies and comes back with a better understanding of her life and what is important in life

That's correct, Jeff. It's a subtext in THE WIZARD OF OZ. Dorothy has died. Oz is an afterlife, and she gets to return to our world. It's a resurrection story.

Before I actually read the joke, I saw the word "TOMB" written around the "&".

The Wizard of Oz was originally written by L. Frank Baum, which looks strikingly similar to the LT&BOM...but that's probably just me reading too much into it. Still kinda creepy, though.

Here's another thought -- the intials on the sign stand for something totally different than what Dorothy is saying -- but because she is Dorothy, she can't help herself from saying the "lions tigers and bears oh my' mantra

Let Dorothy be Dorothy is what I say
