Of course for Billy the comics page is current events, but somehow I doubt Family Circus intended the joke to be that “meta.”

Is PBS in reruns this week? Because the hedgehog-throwing incident took place in February of 2008, and I can’t believe it took Pastis more than a year to come up with this gag.

He’s saying it’s dishonest to assume people know that $170,000 million is the same thing as $170 billion? The bonus caption, “and 0.002 dollars will NEVER equal 0.002 cents,” while of course quite true, only seems to confuse the matter.
(And we’re not even discussing this from a British point of view)
