Many, many people sent me this quick-rabbit-sex cartoon for today’s Arlo Page.

That’s a good one but . . . I thought the Arlo page was for instances where a newspaper cartoonist snuck something naughty past the editors and the bigwigs at the syndicate. As a webcomic, Kevin & Kell could have depicted the actual moment of copulation, if Holbrook wanted to, right? I mean, some webcomics are literally pornographic - does that mean they would be considered for the Arlo page?

    Not complaining - just wondering.

Patrick: I’m no authority, but it seems to me that the spirit of the Arlo is still present here because it probably could get past a syndicate if it was syndicated; it’s sly and covert and not at all explicit, which can be a challenge to achieve without being too opaque to even get.

If I remember correctly, the Arlo PAGE is for comics with adult content, but the Arlo AWARD (as prestigious as it was imaginary) was for sneaking something past the censors.

But then again, I remembered clearly that Bill wanted cartoonists to provide explanations*, so clearly my memory can’t be trusted.

*what he’d actually said was along the lines of “if you come across a comic you don’t understand, send it to me… especially if you’re the cartoonist”

This time, Arvy, you’re absolutely correct.

Thank you for explaining that distinction to me Arvy and CIDU Bill.

Kevin and Kell is published daily in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, AFAIK. I think that’s close enough.

I wouldn’t have understood this one if he hadn’t posted it, so I’m glad he did whether or not it’s ARLO

Wait… is the rabbit married to a cat? Better hope she doesn’t get an appetite at the wrong time.

Renard Muldrake - Actually, he’s married to a wolf, and your comment is very reminiscent of the type of jokes they have in the comic itself.

I rescind my comment that this is, simply, a Furry webcomic. This is a Furry Vore comic and an even better candidate for the Ew Files.

The universe of Kevin and Kell is pretty twisted - carnivores are carnivores, and eat herbivores…the herbivores are, however, also sentient.

This leads to a rather odd form of ongoing war, even while maintaining a viable society.

Diet is actually kind of changeable, though…

Kevin’s ex-wife, Angelique has had plastic surgery to turn herself into a rat, thereby becoming a carnivore - and is married to Kell’s boss, RL.

Kevin and Angelique’s adopted daughter, Lindesfarne, was originally presented as an herbivorous porcupine, but during her courtship with her boyfriend, Fenton (an insectivorous bat), she discovered she was an insectivorous hedgehog.

Bruno (wolf, best friend of Rudy, the kid in this strip), has become a herbivore (though that required surgery changing his guts, unlike Angelique or Lindesfarne).

Various cross-diet crossbreeds include Kevin and Kell’s daughter, Coney, and Bruno’s girlfriend, Corrie (Sheep/Wolf - so she and Bruno are both wolves in sheep’s clothing!)…
