But the tips are incredible

Well yes, that does seem blindingly obvious; but what’s the joke?

In my newspaper the comics section is titled Coffee Break.

I think the joke is that home office coffee breaks are longer than regular office coffee breaks. In my office, I can’t really lounge about watching TV.

The coffee break seems to be a break from watching TV.

This is just an indirect way of saying “Take less breaks and get more work done.”

I suspect Mel has it - take only one or two coffee breaks a day. 10-12 and 2-4 should do it…

(Adam has a running gag about how he is totally addicted to fancy coffee)

At home, there’s no need to take a coffee break; drink your coffee at your desk!

The joke is that he isn’t following his advice–or, rather, he’s taking fewer but longer coffee breaks, which won’t cut down on his coffee purchasing. (Of course, Adam’s life is one big coffee break.)

OK everyone. Coffee break’s over. Back on your heads.

(By the way, I just discovered you get an amazing amount and variety of results if you Google “Coffee break’s over. Back on your heads.”)

I think it might be related to the fact that in (I presume) most offices, coffee is provided at no charge. The at-home worker does not get that benefit.

Mark - “back on your heads” is a common generic punchline in our office. Was amused to see it mentioned on CIDU.

In this strip, Adam is extremely addicted to coffee. Perhaps since he drinks while he works, if he doesn’t work he cuts down on coffee?

Take less breaks from work by never getting back to work

I suspect he’s using “coffee breaks” as a euphemism for trip to the restroom. Though that would work better if the sentence was reversed - reduce the number of coffee breaks by reducing the amount of coffee.

[Norm: Gotta go see a man about a horse. (or something like that)
Frasier: Why does a grown man feel the need to euphemize?
Woody: Well did drink that beer awful fast.]
