Yeah, I can often better remember what I was wearing than the actual date, place and time. For that, I need to consult a calendar.

A rather lame variation on the old “Where were you shot?”/”Over off of 5th Street” joke, or the other possibility that came to mind is that she’s lying, because she claims to have recited it for “real people”, and has no answer to where she did it.

Having an 8-year-old in the house, I know that getting them to actually answer a question directly is not easy. I suspect this comic is based upon the fact that kids that age aren’t fully wired yet, and still have lot’s of crossed circuits. Ask a simple question, get a bizarre answer.

I actually think the joke may be that she was able to memorize the entire poem of Old King Cole and recite it by heart, yet she could not even remember where she recited it.

It has been a very long time, but I recall this strip as an old joke even in the 60’s when I was a young lad, and it may hve been a comic strip
