Days of Thunder RIP?

  • It seems to have disappeared from comics.com since the site revamp, and I’m not seeing it anywhere else online.

I’ve been wondering the same. I looked through the rec.arts comics group (usually a good source for the latest info) and I’ve been doing a search every now and then but it seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

Frequently I didn’t get the point of those one-panels but I always enjoyed trying to figure them out. The intricate detail made that time worthwhile. And occasionally, when I’d get the joke, it was good. Very good. Well worth the time spent studying it.

I hope the artist is ok, and I hope his reasons for moving on are giving him the satisfaction that his art deserves.

www.robesmay.com is gone, but www.rlovely.com is still there.

I went to www.rlovely.com & clicked on the “Days of Thunder” link. It attempted to take me to www.robesmay.com & eventually errored out (if that’s the term). :-(

That’s too bad, since it could be relied on to be incomprehensible when no one else was.

So it departs as it lived: leaving readers puzzled.

I found how to reach him, asked about the strip and he wrote back:

    Elliot-

Thanks for the letter! The New Yorker still publishes my stuff a couple of times a year, but things are done with United Features.

    Best,
    Robert Esmay Lovely
