We have a house like that near here. They love doing it, people love going to see it, the neighbors have accepted it and pitch in on helping put the lights/displays up and take them down. The family puts out huge bins for food donations for the food bank and pet food for the local animal shelter.

It makes me sad to read some of the comments (especially the first).

I’m planning on a big light display this season. It has nothing to do with competition. I loves Christmas lights, my family loves Christmas lights, and I *think* other people do too.

I feel bad for the family that had to take their display down. I would be disgusted if that happened to any of the houses around here that do it. Granted I also don’t live next to them. I am more likely to be one of them. I would probably go all out for Halloween if I owned a house.

I too didn’t get the part about the welding glasses until Rusty explained that part.

The neighbors across the street are like this. They already have their light sup. We used to be “that house” during Halloween, though, but we toned it down.
