Dewey is making the patrons compete to see who gets to use the services of the tax consultant. DDR is the tie breaker, they both aced the Magnum, P.I. round.

What does that have to do with library fines, though?

Her first remark is misleading. There are no fines involoved, merely the allocation of scarce resources.

Although a tax consultant myself, I am definitely not ROTFLMAO at this one. Of course, where I live, the library doesn’t lend tax consultants. Maybe it’s a cultural thing.

Not everyone can afford your services, Ooten. Many of your colleagues, and sometimes trained amateurs, donate their time to help low-income people with their taxes. That it’s done through a library in this place is not particularly surprising.

They are not dancing to meet but to become tax consultants. Accountants are assumed to be highly intelligent, professional men, thus, choosing them based on dance skills and bullshit trivia is funny.
