I know that recorded sporting events don't hold the same sense of anticipation and tension for me as watching them live, because I know the outcome has been "predetermined". To think that this feeling is so universal that it goes back to prehistoric times is funny. (I didn't say it was technologically logical... just funny.) So they are only getting the audio. And then comes the anachronism of is it live or delayed. They can't tell if he's calling it as it happens or if he is just recreating what happened earlier.
