Whenever I read this cartoon,I think that the man’s little neck is the white of a clerical collar, so I’m always expecting a “preistly” or “pastoral” comment from him. Then I read it and realize that it isn’t.

He’s a pie guy, but who turns down Mom’s cake? (or Mother-in-law)

But - I immediately thought of “That 70s Show”. Donna tells Eric she loves him, and all he can say is, “I love … cake!”

It looks like he’s talking to himself in the first panels…kind of a pep talk. But when it comes to time to act on his princples, he caves. And why not. The choice isn’t between pie and genocide. It’s cake. Just because his preference is pie, doesn’t mean he hates cake. And just for the record, where exactly is this “cake or pie world?” Heck, give me a piece of both!
