Richard Nathan: I’m sending you this one just in case the whole world knows more about Dostoevsky than I do.

Bucky is just saying that he is a sick cat . . . a spiteful cat.

The original of his line is “They won’t let me … I can’t be good!” in the Gutenberg translation.

    Dostoevski sounds like an IDIOT

I thought it might have somthing to do with Dostoyevsky having epilepsy, and therefore not being able to type (or write) well.

One of Dostoevsky’s books is called “Notes from Underground,” in which the narrator is a misanthropic jackass who is self-loathing and self-aggrandizing at the same time. I don’t really remember the context of that particular line, but I think the idea is that Bucky is comparing himself to a real grotesque and that it’s actually fitting.

And the first line of the book is “I am a sick man. … I am a spiteful man. I am an unattractive man. I believe my liver is diseased,” in case anyone missed Usual John’s reference.

btw, I know this because my brother has a t-shirt with this line on it.

Arvy, this would be funnier if somebody had given the t-shirt to your brother as a gift.

I am a sick man. I am a spiteful man. I believe my liver is diseased. And all they gave me for it was this lousy t-shirt.

With all the heavy use of K’s where they shouldn’t be, Bucky could be the official “maskot” of the KDE desktop interface of the Linux operating system.

What about “Hoser Fat”? Could that be a reference? (Not having read Dostoevsky, I wouldn’t know.)
