    I’m pretty sure he’s using hair mousse to make a crop circle. Now, is it supposed to be funny? Or some sort of DIY diagram?

    Looks like they are using Mousse to style the lawn - maybe like crop circles.

    Yeah. In the first, spraying the mousse. In the 2nd, smoothing out the stalks. In the last, the crop circles, just like they really appear when people use those boards to flatten the stalks. Probably with no mousse in real life, however.

    I wish he were a better artist so I could figure out much more quickly exactly why his comics are not funny.

    (I’d love to hear some theories on the latest, showing a scientist-type holding a lighter to his own malformed, elongated hand upon which rests a block of ice. As he burns himself and melts the ice he thinks, “Hmmm…”.)

    Part of the joke, I think, is that he’s doing this on a postage-stamp-sized piece of urban yard rather than a several-acre cornfield.

    Once I figured out that was hair mousse, I thought it was actually kind of funny. Not funny enough to be worth the 3 minutes of squinting it took me to figure out it was hair mousse and not someone sticking a stick into dog doo or something.

    I did not think mousse - I though foam depilatory like Nair. Skillful application would make producing the design easier then using a mower. After reading the other comments mousse makes more sense. A foam herbicide ( if such a thing even exists) would be the only other thing that would work for the comic.

    Really, I don’t think this guy is CIDU material…it’s more a new yorker / editorial page WTF doodle.
