Maybe he means you’ll think it’s WORSE than lousy after the 48th time…but I kind of feel that way already…

“Lousy” in the sense that it is not well executed and doesn’t really sufficiently “zing” the target. After 48 times, I am sure that it is more successful at annoying the victim than the most clever of prank calls.

Probably more annoying than people who over use quotation marks.

Prank calls are supposed to be annoying to the other person on the line. Any call after the 47th time is considered annoying.

I lawl’d IRL at that one, actually.

Captin Goatboy has it right, it’s kind of just an obvious remark that something that stupid after 48 times would be insanely annoying and thus a successful prank call.

In college my roommate once got a crank call from a guy who said “I’m frying bacon and thinking of you!” He only called once, though.

re Tom T - great shades of Deliverance!

I guess what I don’t understand is whether the “you” is the caller or the callee. If a caller does the same prank 48 times, he must think it’s pretty good. After 48 times, the recipient will think it’s worse than lousy.

Ohhh, I think i get it…. It’s saying to the reader, “You think this would be a lousy prank call to pull? Well, after you call people with it 48 times and get them absolutely confused and pissed off at you, you’ll find it hilarious!” Or am I wrong?

I think the comic is supposed to be funny also because of the statement.

If someone tried that once, you’d think it was weird and just shrug it off. But, if they still answer “uh…okay” continuously for 47 more.

    I’d think it was funny.

    I rather adore SMBC-comics

    XKCD is also good,
They have quite a few comics that I don’t get till I check words out in the dictionary though
    (:
