Think of it as LEGALLY BLONDE III with Paris playing Reese.
A few smiles and platitudes but as LB II falls short of the original, LB III plumets further.

Mark in Boston, yes, that’s what actors do. And running fast is what sprinters do, painting and sculpting is what artists do. I can’t do any of those things in a manner that anyone would want to see and neither can most people. What she did, even if it was just memorizing and reciting lines written by someone else, she did well and strongly suggests talent and discernment. I’m laughing because I can’t believe I’m championing her, but there it is.

Ummm … memorizing lines is what actors do. Why are you impressed about that? It’s like being impressed that she’s wearing makeup — the other thing that actors do.

Mark M–I give her a little more credit than that, in that not only did she agree to do it and memorize her lines, she apparently thought it was really funny. I think seeing the humor in it says a lot for her intelligence. Maybe she’s not smart enough to write it herself, but she’s smart enough to get it and enjoy it–so somewhere between “true blue ditz” and really smart–like most of the rest of us are whether we like to admit it or not!

Lola, I’d say “true blue ditz” is still more accurate. This was not her idea but instead came from a website co-founder, namely the Funny or Die website. He wrote the sketch, asked if she would do it, and she agreed. The most impressive part about it was that she memorized her lines.

Until I saw this video yesterday I had never heard Paris Hilton, nor wanted to. But I’d heard of her and then only as irritating background noise that couldn’t be avoided. That is a blisteringly amazing come back to McCain’s ad and boggles my mind because I’d assumed that she was a true blue ditz. Now I think maybe there’s been a whole lot more acting going on than has been portrayed and she’s just never seen a reason to set anyone straight before. NEVER thought I’d say this, but….Paris, you go girl!

I always find it a little weird when someone responds to a satirical statement in which virtually everything is wrong, by triumphantly pointing out something wrong (Dave Barry often got angry letters correcting his “Mister Language Person” column). Dave, you are correct that she cannot become president until she’s 35. But why do you not point out that it’s a stupid idea to paint the White House pink?
