Jesus can’t even get the full hour to himself. Poor guy.
Plus, there’s the old saw about how there’s an inverse relationship between the stature of the lead guest and of the second guest on Larry King’s show…if the Son of God is his lead guest, it’s amazing his second guests have any name recognition at all.

As an aside - I don’t think Eydie Gorme has ever been known as Eydie Lawrence. Maybe the cartoonist just ran out of room? So what was happening in February 2004? Maybe that’s the key?

Isn’t Larry King Jewish? Maybe that’s the joke?

The cartoon has more insight. depth. and impact than Larry King.

Ahhhhh, if you believe that the second coming of Jesus signals the end of the world, would the guests that Mr. King has announced be able to appear at all?

I think it’s a dig at the Larry King Show for being more about entertainment than substance. The enthusiasm for Jesus’ second coming is less than a third-rate entertainer (Tito Jackson).
See You Gotta Be Sincere.

I gotta agree with Bob. Somehow I think Tito won’t be appearing on the Larry King show. . .

Larry King admits he does absolutely no research whatsoever on his guests (and it shows, frequently to his great disadvantage). He therefore probably doesn’t know who Jesus is or what the second coming means.

MAD magazine did this already, in a ’90s article about what would happen if God really was one of us. (Remember the song? I only know it through Austin Powers & Mad & other parody things.)
God would be first on Larry King, followed by some other celebrity.
And he still couldn’t get the cable guy to show up.
I have too many MADs to find it.

I have the MAD CD-ROMs so I was able to do a quick search and find it (in the July ‘96 issue). The Larry King bit was almost identical to what’s here.

I think in the MAD magazine comic, it was God on the Larry King Show, followed by Pamela Anderson Lee.

Actually, this was a LOL for me. What do you do when you’ve got a new novel, your latest film, or some other new project out? You do the talk show circuit. So, Jesus is talking up the Second Coming.
