Worst Endings Ever

So Grandpa Jim will remain on death’s door for eternity. How uplifting.

This monstrosity made me think about the worst television endings ever. I doubt there are many Star Trek fans who wouldn’t name Enterprise’s finale as one of the worst-ever finales. Quantum Leap was another stinker.

Of course, a great many television series simply go off the air and don’t have finales at all — and some go on for too many seasons and stink so bad by the end that any finaleis merciful (I’m sure some of you are thinking FBOFW falls into this category, so I’ll save you the trouble of pointing that out) — but the question before us here is: Worst television finale ever (or to put it in a more trendy way, worst. television. finale. ever.)

Got Milk?

A couple of people sent me this one; and it took me a few tries, but I’m pretty sure… They’re out of milk for their cereal, so the cow deliberately made herself laugh so hard, milk came out of her nose. Which for some reason she thinks is more pleasant than making milk come out of her the normal way.

I’m with the chicken: I’ll just stick with toast this morning, thank you.

Okay, is this like how doctors won’t treat patients who are members of their own families (or barbers not cutting their own hair)? Because seriously, if I were a plumber, I wouldn’t be paying somebody else hundreds of dollars to do something in my own home that I could quickly do myself.

Did I miss a panel here? I didn’t see anybody particularly saying Grandpa Jim was going to be okay, yet I really don’t get the sense that Elly was lying.
 
And geez, the entire strip essentially ends in a couple of days. Would it have cost Lynn Johnston, you know, money or anything to let the guy regain some semblance of health before then? I mean what is this, Funky Winkerbean?

I’d Like to Hear the Explanation

That’s a mezuzah, which Jewish families place next to their doorways (sometimes next to the doorways of each room inside the house or apartment, as well). There’s a scroll inside the mezuzah, on which is written the Shema, an important Jewish prayer.

The comic is portraying it very accurately, right down to the angle at which the mezuzah is supposed to be positioned.

Knowing all this, however, doesn’t explain the actual joke (though the concept itself is pretty funny, if a bit obscure to many of the non-Chosen).
