Okay, I’m actually with Stuart here: The customer probably pays with Visa anyway, so why not get a Grumbel’s card and save 10%?I have a Macy’s card I’ve only used once: It was the only store where I could find a ready-to-wear suit for my hard-to-fit son (who told me two days before the fact that he needed one), and they offered me 20% off if I signed up for their card. Hell, yeah.
I also appreciated the symmetry of using a card one time ever for a suit I knew my son would outgrow before he needed to wear it again.

A federal appeals court today threw out a $550,000 fine levied by the FCC against the CBS television network for showing the momentary exposure of most of Janet Jackson’s breast during the halftime show of the 2004 Super Bowl, saying the agency acted “acted arbitrarily and capriciously” and violated its own policy of only imposing fines when an offense is so “pervasive as to amount to ’shock treatment’ for the audience.” Apparently, an image that can only be seen by somebody with a TIVO does not count.
Incredibly enough, there’s still no mention of any punishment for Justin Timberlake for introducing the phrase “wardrobe malfunction” into the English language.
Nicole reminds me that Billo had a bit to say about this non-issue at the time…
