Pinny: How many readers do you think realized that this was a reference to Bizarro creator Dan Piraro & Speed Bump creator Dave Coverly being 2 of the 3 2008 nominees (together with Al Jaffee’s of MAD Magazine) for the National Cartoonists Society’s annual Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year, which was awarded later that evening?BTW, Al Jaffee won. Didn’t somebody draw a near-identical comic a couple of years ago? I seem to remember it stumped everybody here, though the best comment was that it was Michael Jackson’s bathroom.

Tweeks_Coffee: Is there anyway that today’s Luann isn’t at least an Arlo or an Ewww. Maybe both, are they talking about having a shaving party?
Okay, I’m not sure this falls into either Arlo or Ewww territory, but it certainly has an edge you don’t expect from Luann -Bill

Laurie Wylie: My company has a very detailed Emergency Plan in case of a natural or man-made disaster (instituted after 9-11). It applies for anything that would cause the office to shut down, from terrorist attacks down to bad winter weather, electrical outages, fire, or, I assume, if a disgruntled employee came charging into the office with guns blazing. All of these things are facts of life these days, and any company or school needs to be prepared…Anyway… part of that plan is a phone tree, which the Admin in charge of each business group is responsible for updating. Communications are the biggest part of the plan, as a matter of fact, so this is an important task. So what is the joke in this strip?
