David Willis, of Roomies/It’s Walky/Shortpacked fame, posted this Wednesday night, claiming it was an actual upcoming Mallard Fillmore strip:

…and I have to confess it was a good five minutes — during which I was planning to post it here as Most Tasteless Comic of the Month –before it dawned on me that it was a fake.

Duh.

Though I don’t know whether this says more about me, or about the Mallard Fillmore strip.

Either way, a tip of the hat to David Willis.

The CIDU Schedule

A handful of visitors have asked me over the past couple of weeks, so let me clarify:

The daily CIDU goes online every day at 12:02AM New York time. If I happen to have a Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal comic in the queue, I’ll almost always schedule it for a Saturday morning. Just because. The Comics That Made Us Laugh post always goes online Mondays at noon. If there’s a comic I’m pretty sure I understood, such as the “Give Me a Sign” three comics down, I’ll usually put it online at noon (because the 12:02 slot is reserved for the true CIDUs). Other stuff (Arlo Page, Ewww Files, off-topic items) go online whenever.

If an extra CIDU appears midday, it will usually because either that day’s CIDU turned out to be too simple or because I’d uploaded it to go online at a later date, but I screwed up and it went live immediately. Once it’s online I leave it there, because people using RSS will be looking for it.

RSS does work on this site, but I apparently set it up quite by accident. I also don’t know how to use it. I should probably learn someday, but I probably won’t.

Trivia Fact of the Day

In the Muslim faith, anybody born to a Muslim father, regardless of the mother’s religion, is a Muslim (which might have implications in the case of Barack Obama); while Judaism uses the opposite rule, that a child is Jewish or non-Jewish depending on the mother — under the logic that you can be 100% certain who the mother is, but…

(None of this is to say, of course, that parents can’t and don’t raise their children however they see fit; but this is what Muslim and Jewish law dictate)
