Dreams

This doesn’t fall into the lol category, but maybe we should have one for comics that make you say “Damn, that’s so true…”

Not a bad category idea. This has happened to me innumerable times. Often it will happen that by the time I get fully awake I can’t remember any of the content of the dream, only the memory of the feeling that it was sooooo weird.

Neither wry nor pithy.

“Neither wry nor pithy.”
Beautifully illustrated, though.

I’ve found that if I don’t move my head while I retell the dream (to myself, in my head), I can keep it. If I roll over, I can watch it fade away (yeah, just like that…). I figure it has something to do with the bloodflow to the brain - if I shift, gravity affects it and the bit of brain that’s holding the dream gets interrupted.

I swear I came up with a new cold fusion proposal this way once a few months ago. When I woke up I belched and everything went away. So on the bright side I think I can rule out burp power as one of the components.

That’s XKCD, they are all wonderful like that. One of my fav strips…..

I agree with Tristara. XKCD has the highest “Damn…that’s so true…” ratio of any other comic I read.

I get kind of the opposite effect with dreams - I usually don’t even remember that I dreamed the night before, but then sometimes throughout the day I get very brief, vivid, odd flashbacks at random - and often inopportune - times. Kinda like someone zapped the “previous channel” button on the remote for just a nanosecond, or I got sucked into a strange parallel universe and back. Or some sound or smell will trigger a brief flashback or strange feeling. Sometimes I can even piece the dream all back together by the end of the day.

The alt text for this comic says: “There was something about a cup and a sword and a green hill…”

“Shopping teams” http://xkcd.com/309/ belongs in this category. (and was an LOL for me)

Ah, that’s a neat literary allusion, Qer.

This reminds me of another xkcd I saw a while back about dreaming.
“I’m gonna go comatose for a few hours, hallucinate vividly and then maybe suffer amnesia about the whole experience.”
