I think this is just taking the standard fanboy complaints of “it wasn’t like that in the comic!” to an absurd level.

And now that I take another look at the strip, the fact that the boy’s complaining about how Robobot didn’t sing “that much” in the comic implies that Robobot *does* sing in the comic. Now that’s funny.

I think the funniest part of this is where it says “Part Robot, Part Machine” on the poster behind them.

The fact that the robot sings AT ALL is pretty funny. It’s the odd combimation that does it. Think ‘Star Wars - The Musical’ or ‘Indiana Jones and the Sound of Music’ or ‘The Fantastiks 4″.

I think this is a reference to Spider-Man 3, which contains a surprising amount of singing for a superhero movie.
