Thanks for the Digital Camera Suggestions

I need to replace my 10mp point-and-shoot (whose photos have been a bit grainy since my son mistook it for a shoot-and-drop) with an SLR, and I’ve been looking at Canon Rebel 8mp and 10mp cameras. Would I really lose much going from point-and-shoot 10mp to SLR 8mp? I’ve always heard that it’s not the number of your megapixels, but rather what you do with them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Michael Cohen: Is that supposed to be Al Gore? If not, who is it supposed to be? If so, what’s the joke? That the world’s problems are that Al Gore thinks that he owns the earth, because he’s concerned about global warming?
