If you fly 1000 miles away and then 1000 miles back, you end up in the same place where you started. The airline’s policy says that means you did not actually go anywhere, and therefore they don’t owe you any frequent flyer miles.

I guess the joke is the convoluted rules for frequent flyer miles - even if you pile up lots, actually getting a ticket to somewhere you want to go at a time you want to go is a serious pain. So this airline cut all of that out and just doesn’t let you accumulate miles? Something like that.

I thought they were saying they only apply frequent flyer miles in one direction. So 1000 mile east minus the 1000 miles west equals no miles.

That’s hilarious, because you know it’ll be on the agenda as the airlines next cost-cutting move! Thaves never should have given them the idea. ;-)

Obviously these miles have a vector associated with them, rather than being just a scalar quantity.

    E-Z one — it’s Catch 22.

To FURTHER abuse the pun, airlines have you coming AND going w/ their frequent flier restrictions!
