… unless the catcher drops the ball on the third strike. In that case you may run to first base, the catcher may tag you out or throw the ball to first base etc. etc. [insert additional detail about what happens when the ball gets there, doesn’t get there, hits the runner, is thrown to a different base]

Well, technically, a lawyer can’t help you, even though a careless catcher might (and you can add catcher’s interference to your list of scenarios).
