I guess it’s because 9 Chickweed Lane appears in a relatively limited number of papers, and so has less of a chance to cause anyone to drop a subscription. It doesn’t have near the penetration of Garfield (and now I feel really dirty).

I think it got through because it’s another “dirty joke” that ends up coming across as pretty unsexy for some reason.

I suspect the editors are used to Thorax being strange, and they figured it might be just a random alternative to pulling a rutabaga out of his ear.

Is this an old one? Because that’s the ex-priest and ex-nun, who are now married and she’s pregnant, so I imagine that she certainly DOES know his “measurements” at this point…

By the way, didn’t the “pregnancy” turn out to be a false alarm?
