Hey, Boo

Alan Hamilton: I don’t get it. Is she saying he’s expressionless?

My own thought was that she’s calling him ugly. Setting aside the matter of which gratuitous insult she’s offering up and why (and when I say “setting aside” I mean that purely as a figure of speech, of course, because nothing’s beneath analysis around here), why is she wearing a Halloween shirt in February?

Probably because it’s clean. I have three Halloween shirts, and I wear them frequently because I despise doing the laundry. Also, who really gives a frak what shirt I wear around the house? It’s not like I’m going to a party in an orange shirt with jack-o-lanterns on it; just hanging out, watching TV. Really. Really!

Marie has a pretty good answer. Another is that she’s wearing the shirt for no reason other than to set up the joke. (And I agree that she’s calling him ugly.)

Yep, my first thoughts were - ugly insult and laundry day. (Comfy shirt works too.)

    LAUNDRY DAY, BABY!

I recall Ralph doing some pro or semi-pro wrestling as a masked character. After all, how could he support a wife, three kids (one in college), a dachshund, a cat and a rare South American parrot disguised as a duck - to say nothing of his donut and burger habits - on a mall cop’s salary?

I think Ooten Aboot nailed it. I don’t see the strip often
but I vaguely recall the Wrestling stint.

It’s been years since I’ve read Drabble, but the whole “masked wrestler” thing was my first thought, too.
