Daniel Vawser: I get the joke in today’s Soup to Nutz. Stromoski often puts classic cartoon characters in the background pictures, which “magically” change from frame to frame. (Can actually happen nowadays with an electronic frame… but I digress)The guy in the 2nd panel is Moon Mullins. 3rd panel is Alley Oop. But who’s the character in the 1st panel picture?

Louie, the title character of a pantomime strip by Harry Hana. Had pretty wide distribution in the ’50’s

    That would be “Harry Hanan.”

Isn’t that actually Moon Mullins’s kid brother Kayo in the second panel?

No, that’s Moon. Kayo wore a derby.
