The timing doesn’t work for the Tony Danza misheard lyric, as the song was written and recorded in 1973, Danza wasn’t on Taxi (and thus in the public eye) until 1978 (or 1976, if you count his boxing career).

No, no, no….it’s “hold my clothes and tie me down, sir”.
And I have absolutely no idea what Elton John means when he says “I want you to be my acrobat” in the song “Little Jeannie”.

Re: #1
Misheard lyrics don’t have to make temporal sense; they can be misheard today using anything one knows *today*.

Is it just me or is Avis the scariest old lady ever? She’s like the Joker’s grandma…

Elton John, ever the bleepin opportunist, quckuick to make a buck on someone else’s misfortune. Giligan’s got him nailed.

To Pinny and eeyore19: Elton (my favorite singer) has a body of work that is ripe for misheard lyrics. I thought the line was “Electric boobs, a mohair suit”, etc. In the internet age, however, there’s no excuse for not knowing the lyrics to a song you like…

And jayjaybear, I agree with you: Miss Avis is HIDEOUS! and there’s probably a real person somewhere who looks just like her.

And just what does someone who’s not dressed in overalls need quick-drying cement for?

Sure there’s no excuse for misheard song lyrics, but they’re still hilarious! They also have a term: Mondegreens. I recommend looking it up, as it’s given me lots of laughs in the past.
For the quick drying cement one, that was a nice joke for me since I thought it was going to be a plastic surgery joke. Also regarding that comic, jayjaybear’s comment made me LOL.

Alan: for baking, weren’t you paying attention?

But Jim, your version is better.
