Ah, yes, with a finger the emphasis and third panel (would have) fit together nicely.

Now, if you could just explain the mysterious single cursive “about” in last week’s Strange Brew. . .

The emphasis on “you’re” is to correlate with “the finger of blame” pointing toward the person being addressed. It would have made more sense to see a finger coming up from under the table, pointing at Curtiss.

If the father had said at ‘most people aren’t thrilled to hear the truth, especially about themselves” and left out the “blame “part, the comic would have made more sense.

Panel 4 is badly laid out, and the emphasis on the word “you’re” is confusing. Saying “like you’re ugly” indicates that you yourself are not ugly, as compared to some other really ugly people.

Panel 4 is very badly laid out. Panel 3 states that people don’t want to hear the truth, especially about themselves (paraphrased). Panel 4 SHOULD start with the balloon stating, “Yeah, like you’re ugly” (a “truth” about Curtis). Curtis then takes exception, proving his father’s point.
