Comics That Made Me Laugh Out Loud in Early January
Cidu Bill on Jan 16th 2008

(though I suspect that men are more likely than women to laugh at this one)
This one also wins the ”Sometimes You Should Quit After the First Panel” Award, so all I’m putting up is the first panel
The first time Gallagher has ever made me laugh:
Keera Ann Fox:

Nicole:

Winter Wallaby: I think I found this one particularly funny because just yesterday I spent two hours “cleaning out” a file of old papers about 15 inches thick and ended up throwing away about 20 pages.
Morris Keesan: Though some might nominate the first one for the Ewww Files

Is the Pearls Before Swine strip above my favorite of the lot, by far?
You Bet Your Life!

I actually sent the bull/cow/horned baby one to my daughter, who, btw, had a baby last Thursday. Her response? “Nice.” That’s it. Hmmmm, guess she didn’t inherit my sense of humor.

“Hamberger Helper” - dark, dark, dark. Love it!
And Pearls was a hoot…except for the making me feel old part - how many people get the reference?!

Where’s the X-Men/Peanuts parody from? I love that one!

The “Donner Party” gag is just a ripoff of a Robin Williams line…

I like that Satchel guesses a sum as low as $20.
That “Irony” strip would have been funny five or so years ago, but I honestly can’t recall anyone making jokes about Bush’s mispronunciations and mangled metaphors in a long, long time.

Sparkle: I got it and I’m only 30. But then, I remember the Bill Cosby version of YBYL…

Sparkle, You might be getting a bit long in the tooth if you can identify, “Plunk your magic twanger Froggie!”. ( It’s not ARLO PAGE material.)
Madalch Jan 17th 2008 at 07:15 pm 9
Frank- is that from the same place as, “Have another popover, Froggie!”
(Followed shortly after by, “Well, he can’t stay here- for one thing, he eats all the popovers!”)

Frank, even I’M not THAT old…
Arthur Jan 17th 2008 at 08:59 pm 11
Madalch, yours comes from one of my favorites. Frank’s quote predates it by at least two decades. That one’s before my time, but I know someone else who remembers it fondly.
Google has the answers.

Re: #4:
It was drawn by Ryan Dunlavey and appeared in Toyfare Magazine on March 14, 2007.

The image on your site is a scanned copy. You might want to consider replacing it with the 2nd image above which is clearer.
