Apparently the thought is that whoever “they” are thought a cool-sounding Spanish name was de rigueur for meteorological phenomena. “Zorro” being taken, they went with “El Nino”. That completely ignores the true etymology, but that’s B.C. for you.

You’d think Hart (or the Hart stand-in) would be all over the fact that “El Nino” refers to Baby Jesus…

This reminds of the the El Cabong character in the old Quick Draw McDraw cartoons.

I thought it was more about how El Nino storms in, slashes about a bit and then leaves. Zorro would be a more descriptive name than “the little boy”.
